Sultan(2016):"It's about love and the will to do anything which inspires us to fight with our inner demons."
Sultan, a love story set up in the backdrop of wrestling, prompts you to win over self and also conveys that there is only person who can defeat us in the game of life and that is one’s own self.
This film by Ali Abbas Zafar has everything you could expect from a blockbuster releasing on EID with Salman Khan playing the lead.
The film beautifully goes back and forth between the present and the past.
It also shows the transformation of an ageing wrestling champion into a MMA (mixed martial arts).
Another highlight of the film was the characters, everyone character had its importance and was perfectly fit played by respective actors.
SULTAN - a touching tale of the rise and fall and rise of a wrestler and his quest to win back his true love.
A wrestler tries to win over the woman he loves, and her respect, but he misses a step when he lets arrogance get the better of him. Then, middle-aged, he makes a dramatic comeback like only true sportspersons can.
Ali Abbas Zafar’s direction is superb.
He has kept the narrative style simple and extremely entertaining and engaging.
The director has shot the film brilliantly and also made sure justice is done to the story.
The script is the King of the film.
It has right amount of drama, action, and romance - keeping you engaged throughout. However, the movie could have been shorter as it is almost 3 hours long.
Salman Khan carries the movie on his shoulders - sensible acting and wonderful face expressions.
He played the character with great dedication and with lot of emotions which clearly reflects on screen.
Anushka Sharma has some brilliant scenes and a light and sweet chemistry with Salman.
Amit Sadh is a surprise while Randeep Hooda plays his character with ease.
Another noteworthy character of the film was Sultan’s best friend Govind played by Anant Sharma, he was a hilarious one and have shown great potential which will be appreciated by many.
Vishal-Shekhar are back after a long time with an amazing soundtrack! The songs are nicely blended along with the script and background score.
Overall, an enjoyable movie.
